As you plan your upland hunt at R&D Adventures Hunting Preserve, there are a few items we recommend bringing to make your day as enjoyable as possible. For safety, we encourage all hunters to wear an upland orange hat or vest. You are welcome to bring the shotgun gauge you are most comfortable shooting. We generally recommend #6 or #8 shot for quail and chukar, and #4 to #6 shot for pheasants. Comfortable walking shoes or boots are highly recommended, and while brush pants are not required, they can be helpful since some areas of the preserve do contain briars. We also suggest bringing a cooler to transport your harvested birds home. Bottled water and light snacks are usually available for our guests. If you'd like to warm up before heading into the field, we also have a skeet thrower available so you can get comfortable with your shotgun before the hunt begins.
